Lyrics
Worthy Is Jesus
Read together: Revelation 5:1–14; John 1:29; 1 Peter 1:18–19; Isaiah 6:1–7; 1 Corinthians 15:54–57
What deserves your praise? Every day we decide what is worth our time, our money, our attention, and our affection. But Scripture presses a deeper question on us—not what is worth our praise, but Who is worthy of it.
Read Revelation 5:1–14. John sees a scroll in the right hand of God that no one in heaven or on earth is worthy to open, and he weeps. Then he is told that the Lion of the tribe of Judah has triumphed. When he looks, he sees not a lion but a Lamb, standing as though it had been slain. Heaven breaks into a new song: the Lamb is worthy, because He was slain, and with His blood He purchased people for God from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. Jesus is worthy not only because of who He is, but because of what He has done.
That picture did not begin in Revelation. Read John 1:29 and 1 Peter 1:18–19. When John the Baptist saw Jesus coming, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” Peter later reminded believers that they were not redeemed with silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or spot. Our pardon was not cheap. It was bought with His own life.
Read Isaiah 6:1–7. When Isaiah saw the Lord high and lifted up, the seraphim were calling to one another, “Holy, holy, holy.” Isaiah’s first response was not celebration but confession—he cried out that he was ruined, a man of unclean lips. Then God Himself provided the cleansing. Real worship always begins there: seeing how holy God is, and how much we need His mercy. That is why heaven’s worship centers on the Lamb. The holy God has made a way for sinners to stand before Him.
Worship is not only for Sunday mornings, or for heaven someday. Read 1 Corinthians 15:54–57. Because Jesus rose from the dead, death has lost its sting and the grave has lost its victory. That gives believers a reason to keep praising Him through every season—in strength and in weakness, in life and in death. This song ends exactly where Scripture ends: every voice joining to call Jesus worthy, forever.
And if you have never trusted Him, His worthiness is not a reason to stay away. It is the reason you can come. The Lamb was slain for sinners, and He still receives everyone who comes to Him.
A moment to respond: Read Revelation 5:9–14 aloud this week. Then take a few minutes to tell Jesus, in your own words, why He is worthy—not for what you want Him to do next, but for who He is and what He has already done. If you have not yet trusted Him, come to Him today; the Lamb of God still takes away sin.
Let's pray: Lord Jesus, You are worthy. Worthy because You are holy, and worthy because You were slain for us. Thank You for buying our pardon with Your own life. Forgive us for giving our praise to lesser things. Give us strength to worship You in every season, through our final breath and into eternity, until we join every tribe and tongue around Your throne. Amen.
Our desire at UnrelentingJesus is that your life would become a song of worship to the Lamb who was slain—the only One truly worthy of it all.
