Lyrics

[Verse 1] In this life—it appears there are so many ways to go— So many ways to try to know— The best things to do— And so many ways to choose— How to win—or how we can lose. But of all the things I’ve done— Among all of them—there’s only one— Ohhhh—only one thing more—I would do— And that’s finding so many more ways—to say and prove—dear Lord—that I love you! [Verse 2] For You Lord—are the only one— Ohhhhh—only You and You alone— Ever showed me and all— How to live and love—no matter how high up the mountain I go— Or oh how far into the valley—I fall. And in you—I find peace—I seek. In you—there is strength—when I am weak. In you—grace and mercy I find— Knowing You—always have me on your mind. [Verse 3] And so for me—there’s only one thing I wish more I would do— And that’s finding so many more ways—to say and prove—dear Lord—that I love you! And my Lord—with all my strength, heart, mind, and soul— I’ll show I love You when I walk in all Your ways and obey all to me—You have ever told. [Chorus] For You are my treasure, so I lay down lesser loves and put You first—oh Lord it’s You I crown! And I’ll seek Your face at dawn and dusk, I love You in the secret place—everywhere and all around— I’ll prove my love for You—by loving every neighbor as myself—ohhh—for You—I lay myself down. [Verse 4] I will trust Your heart when I can’t see, I’ll surrender all and rest in You—to be all You made me—to be. Oh make my life holy and full of fruit, a living love song to Your name. With every word of praise and every testimony, having bought all my shame I will love and worship You—Lord— Oh bless Your holy name!! [Tag] Soooooo—of all the things I’ve done— Among all of them—there’s only one— Ohhhh—only one thing more—I would do— And that’s finding so many more ways—to say and prove—dear Lord—that I love you!

Only One Thing More

Read together: Luke 10:38–42; Mark 12:28–34; John 14:15, 21; Psalm 63:1–8; 1 John 4:19–21

Life offers endless options. So many ways to go, so many things to try, so many ways to win or lose. This song looks back over all of it and lands on a single desire: Of all the things I've done, there's only one thing more I would do—finding so many more ways to say and prove, dear Lord, that I love You.

There is a story in the Gospels about choosing the one thing that matters most. Read Luke 10:38–42. Martha welcomed Jesus into her home and was distracted with much serving. Her sister Mary sat at Jesus' feet, listening. When Martha complained, Jesus answered gently: "Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her." The many things were not wrong. But one thing was better.

The second verse explains why loving the Lord is worth everything. Only You ever showed me how to live and love, no matter how high up the mountain I go or how far into the valley I fall. In Him there is peace, strength in weakness, grace, and mercy. We love Him because He first loved us.

But how do we prove our love? The third verse answers: I'll show I love You when I walk in all Your ways and obey all You have ever told. Read John 14:15, 21. Jesus said, "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments… Whoever has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me." Obedience is not a cold duty. It is how love shows itself.

Read Mark 12:28–34. When asked about the greatest commandment, Jesus said, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength." Then He added the second: "Love your neighbor as yourself." The song's chorus holds both together. I lay down lesser loves and put You first… I'll prove my love for You by loving every neighbor as myself. Read 1 John 4:19–21. John says that whoever claims to love God but hates his brother is a liar. Love for God always overflows into love for people.

The chorus also says, I'll seek Your face at dawn and dusk; I love You in the secret place. Read Psalm 63:1–8. "O God, You are my God; earnestly I seek You… When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the watches of the night." Love for God grows in private devotion, not only public worship.

The fourth verse adds trust and surrender. I will trust Your heart when I can't see; I'll surrender all and rest in You. Love trusts when it cannot understand. And it asks God to make my life holy and full of fruit—a living love song to Your name.

Perhaps you are like Martha—busy, distracted, anxious about many things. Jesus is not scolding you. He is inviting you to sit at His feet. And if you have never known His love, it begins there: He loved you first, all the way to the cross.

A moment to respond: Read Luke 10:38–42. Set aside fifteen minutes today to "sit at Jesus' feet"—no phone, no list, just His Word and prayer. Then choose one practical way to show love to a neighbor this week as an expression of your love for God.

Let's pray: Lord, of all the things we do, let loving You be first. Forgive us for being anxious about many things and neglecting the one thing that matters most. Teach us to show our love by obeying You and loving our neighbors. Draw us into the secret place with You. Make our lives a living love song to Your name. Amen.

Our desire at UnrelentingJesus is that of all the things you do in this life, loving Jesus would be the one thing you keep finding more ways to do.
