Lyrics

**Verse 1** I’ve wanted—every promise the world can give— But no one—had ever bought my soul—or showed me how to live. I’ve chased shadows in the night— I’ve fought to live—with all my might— I’ve looked up—down—all around, But then—Grace and Mercy— Found me—pulled me into light—set my feet on solid ground! **Verse 2** My kingdom—I was a fool—to build on sinking sands. Nothing beneath my feet—I tried to hold on with my hands, Every tower I built to the sky— All came crashing down—just—when life walked by. **Chorus** Jesus—will You be the rock in my plans? I don’t want to build any more on sinking sands— Lord—take my future—take my plans— I surrender all Lord—I’m in Your hands . Jesus—You’re the treasure I seek— Jesus—be the strength where I’m weak. All other kingdoms—fade like dust— LORD—in You alone—I place my trust! **Verse 3** Too many voices telling me— “Find yourself! You’ll be free!” Every voice—every one—they’re still bound— At Your cross—I found a better way— Freedom and truth— When I lost all of me— I found all of You! Bridge All I am—all I ever hope to be, Even my blinded eyes—were made to see, I laid before Your cross— No more fear—no chains—You paid my cost! And now You reign— You give to me—all my days—every breath Every heartbeat—till my death! So let my life—my hands—my praise— Lord—to You—daily raise! **Final Chorus** Jesus—be the rock in my plans? I don’t want to build any more—on sinking sands— Lord—take my future—take all my plans, I surrender all Lord—I’m in Your hands . Jesus—You’re the treasure I seek— Jesus—Be the strength where I’m weak. All kingdoms fade like dust— LORD—in You alone—I place my trust! For thine is the Kingdom and the Glory— Forever more!

No More Sinking Sands

Read together: Daniel 2:31–35, 44; 1 Corinthians 3:10–11; Isaiah 28:16; Luke 9:23–25; Matthew 6:9–13

We live in a culture that keeps saying, "Find yourself! You'll be free!" Follow your heart. Build your brand. Chase your dreams. This song lists the voices—and then makes an honest observation: Every voice, every one—they're still bound.

The singer tried it. I've wanted every promise the world can give… I've chased shadows in the night… My kingdom—I was a fool to build on sinking sands. Towers built to the sky came crashing down just when life walked by—a diagnosis, a betrayal, a lost job, a loss no one expected.

The Bible has a striking picture of human kingdoms. Read Daniel 2:31–35, 44. King Nebuchadnezzar dreamed of a great statue made of gold, silver, bronze, iron, and clay—a picture of successive empires. Then a stone, "cut out without human hands," struck the statue and shattered it. The pieces became like chaff blown away by the wind, and the stone became a great mountain that filled the whole earth. Daniel explained that God would set up a kingdom that would never be destroyed.

The song's chorus says the same: All other kingdoms fade like dust. Empires, careers, reputations, bank accounts—every kingdom we build without God will eventually blow away. Only God's kingdom lasts.

That is why the singer prays, Jesus, will You be the rock in my plans? Read Isaiah 28:16. God says, "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who believes will never be shaken." The New Testament identifies that stone as Jesus. Read 1 Corinthians 3:10–11. Paul says, "No one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ." You can build many things in life, but if the foundation is not Christ, it will not hold.

The third verse holds a paradox that the world cannot understand: When I lost all of me, I found all of You! Read Luke 9:23–25. Jesus said, "Whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, yet lose or forfeit himself?" The culture says find yourself by looking inward. Jesus says find life by surrendering to Him. The freedom the world promises never quite arrives. The freedom Jesus gives is real: No more fear, no chains—You paid my cost!

The song ends with words from the Lord's Prayer as many have learned it: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Read Matthew 6:9–13. The prayer Jesus taught begins with God's kingdom—"Your kingdom come, Your will be done"—before it ever asks for our daily bread. When we pray it honestly, we are laying down our own kingdoms.

If you have been building on sand, you may already feel it shifting. That is not the end. It is an invitation. Lay your plans at the cross and let Jesus be your foundation.

A moment to respond: Draw two columns: "My kingdom" and "His kingdom." List what you have been building for yourself on one side. Then pray over each item, asking Jesus to be the foundation beneath it or to show you what to let go. Finish by praying the Lord's Prayer slowly.

Let's pray: Jesus, we have built too much on sinking sand. Every kingdom we build without You will fade like dust. Be the rock beneath our plans. Take our future and our plans; we surrender all. Be our strength where we are weak and our treasure above all else. For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Our desire at UnrelentingJesus is that you would stop building on sinking sand and find in Jesus a foundation that will never be shaken.
