Lyrics
He Came So Far
Read: Philippians 2:5–11; Luke 2:8–14; Romans 5:6–8
Have you ever stood outside on a clear night and tried to take in the stars? You can see so much, yet you know there is far more beyond what your eyes can reach. It can make you feel very small. And sometimes, when life has been hard or you've made choices you regret, that smallness turns into a painful question: Would God really notice someone like me?
Can you imagine the shepherds outside Bethlehem that night? They were doing ordinary work in an ordinary field. Nothing about their evening suggested they were about to hear heaven's announcement. Yet the angel told them of good news and great joy: a Savior had been born (Luke 2:10–11). The message was not reserved for kings or religious leaders. It came first to people keeping watch in the dark.
Now read Philippians 2:5–11. Take your time. Paul tells us that Christ Jesus humbled Himself, took the form of a servant, and became obedient unto death—even death on a cross. Bethlehem was not the end of His coming. It was the beginning of a journey that led to Calvary. The Son of God did not enter our world merely to observe our pain from a distance. He came to accomplish what we could never accomplish for ourselves: salvation through His death and resurrection.
Perhaps you've spent years believing you must first become worthy of God's attention. Maybe you think you have to repair your past, clean up your habits, or find the right words before you can pray. Here's some help: read Romans 5:6–8. Christ died for the ungodly. God demonstrated His love toward us while we were still sinners. The initiative was His, not ours.
That doesn't make sin unimportant. It means His grace is greater than your ability to rescue yourself. The right response isn't to keep standing at a distance; it's to come to Him in repentance and faith.
Would you be willing to take a quiet moment today and tell Jesus the truth about where you are? No performance. No polished speech. Thank Him for coming, for bearing the cross, and for offering forgiveness. If you've never trusted Him as Savior, ask Him to save you and begin following Him. If you already know Him, let His humility reshape how you love the people around you—especially the ones who feel overlooked.
Our desire at UnrelentingJesus is that you won't merely admire the distance Christ came. We pray you'll discover the nearness of the Savior who came to seek and save the lost.
Let's pray. Lord Jesus, I cannot measure the wonder of Your coming. Thank You for entering our broken world, for humbling Yourself, and for giving Your life for sinners. Meet the person reading this who feels too insignificant, too guilty, or too far away. Give them courage to come to You in faith. Teach those of us who know You to walk in gratitude and humility. In Your precious name, amen.
