By grace, God makes His people His dwelling place.
Across Scripture, the places associated with God’s presence point us toward the Gospel. The Garden shows both fellowship and the separation caused by sin. The Temple displays holiness and the need for atonement. Jesus Christ brings God near in the fullest sense, bearing our sin and judgment at the Cross. And through Christ, the believer becomes a dwelling place of God.
Grace is not something we earn or deserve. It is God’s gift, received by faith when we trust Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. That grace changes both our standing before God and the way we live in the world.

Trace the four houses through Scripture and notice how each one points to Jesus Christ.
The Garden House: humanity knew fellowship with God, but sin brought separation and showed the seriousness of His holiness.
The Great House: the Temple testified to God’s presence, holiness, sacrifice, and the need for cleansing.
The Glorious House: in Jesus Christ, God came near. At the Cross, the spotless Son of God bore our sin and judgment and accomplished what we could never accomplish for ourselves.
The Grace House: through Christ, the believer is not merely called near to God. God makes His people His dwelling place and calls them to carry His light into a dark world.
