Lyrics

**Verse 1** When the night is filled with sorrow, And no hope you can find for tomorrow— When your heart is heavy—and in you—there is no song— Everything you try—goes wrong. When you’re exhausted from carrying it all— Remember Him—On Him you can always call, In the ashes and despair of your worst day— Or in the midst of your darkest night— God is mindful and kind—and His mercy always makes a way. **Chorus** Oh my Lord—Your mercies are new—at the start of every day— Your love never ends—all along my way. Great is Your faithfulness, and the hope to me You send. My portion, my strength, my salvation, In You alone I will trust…till the very end Verse 2 Though I sit in the depths of loneliness and despair— Through my tears of anger, hurt, or loss— I whisper Your name—and I find You there. You are so faithful, You are loving and kind— My soul can rest and wait in the quiet— You are so good—for You promise—I am always on Your mind. **Bridge** Oh my Redeemer—my deliverer—You give me hope! Even when I cannot see— What You are doing for me— In You—I will find rest! For with You, I am always blessed— You lift my weary head—you never leave me—You comfort me instead. Great is Your faithfulness—Saving me from my guilt and shame— Oh bless the name of Jesus—bless His Holy Name! **Chorus** Oh my Lord—Your mercies are new—at the start of every day— Your love never ends—all along my way. Great is Your faithfulness, and the hope to me You send. My portion, my strength, my salvation, In You alone I will trust…till the very end! Ohhhh—-how great!! How great is Your faithfulness— Oh Lord—-unto me while I wait, For Your mercy to find a way— To renew my strength—each and every day.

Your Mercies Are New

Read together: Lamentations 3:19–26; Psalm 30:5; Isaiah 40:28–31; Psalm 62:1–2, 5–8

Some nights are filled with sorrow. Some mornings bring no hope for tomorrow. The heart is heavy, there is no song, and everything you try goes wrong. This song begins in that place—the ashes and despair of your worst day—and then whispers a promise: God is mindful and kind, and His mercy always makes a way.

The chorus is drawn from one of the most surprising passages in the Bible. Read Lamentations 3:19–26. The book of Lamentations is a series of funeral songs over the destroyed city of Jerusalem. The writer has watched his city burn and his people suffer. In chapter 3, he says, "I remember my affliction and my wandering, the bitterness and the gall. Surely my soul remembers and is bowed down within me." And then, right in the middle of grief: "Yet this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord's loving devotion we are not consumed, for His mercies never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness! 'The Lord is my portion,' says my soul, 'therefore I will hope in Him.'"

That passage was not written on a good day. It was written in the ashes. That is why it carries so much weight. The writer did not wait for his circumstances to improve before declaring God's faithfulness. He chose to remember truth in the middle of the ruins.

The song echoes this perfectly: Your mercies are new at the start of every day. Your love never ends… Great is Your faithfulness… My portion, my strength, my salvation.

The second verse names hard emotions without shame: Though I sit in the depths of loneliness and despair, through my tears of anger, hurt, or loss, I whisper Your name and I find You there. Anger, hurt, and loss are real. The song does not pretend otherwise. It simply says that God is found even there.

My soul can rest and wait in the quiet. Read Psalm 62:1–2, 5–8. "My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him… Rest in God alone, O my soul, for my hope comes from Him… Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is our refuge." Waiting on God is not passive. It is active trust.

The bridge holds a phrase worth remembering: Even when I cannot see what You are doing for me, in You I will find rest. That is faith—trusting God's character when we cannot see His plan.

The final lines ask God to renew my strength each and every day. Read Isaiah 40:28–31. "Those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint." Renewal comes day by day, not all at once.

Read Psalm 30:5. "Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning." Every morning is a reminder that God's mercies have not run out.

If you are in a night of sorrow, hold on until morning. His mercies will be new. And if you have never known His faithfulness, it is waiting for you in Jesus.

A moment to respond: Tomorrow morning, before anything else, read Lamentations 3:22–23 aloud. Then write down one fresh mercy you notice that day—something small or large. Do this every morning for a week, and watch how God's faithfulness becomes visible.

Let's pray: Lord, when the night is filled with sorrow and there is no song in our hearts, remind us that Your mercies are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness. You are our portion, our strength, and our salvation. When we cannot see what You are doing, help us rest in You. Renew our strength each and every day. Bless Your holy name. Amen.

Our desire at UnrelentingJesus is that whatever your night has been, you would wake to find God's mercies new again—and His faithfulness great.
