Lyrics
Trust in Jesus
Read together: Psalm 20:7–8; Psalm 9:9–10; Matthew 16:24–27; Hebrews 9:27–28; 2 Corinthians 6:1–2
What are you trusting in? We all trust something—our health, our savings, our relationships, our own abilities. This song asks that question with urgency and points to the only One who will never fail.
The first verses tell why Jesus is trustworthy. For every soul that walked the earth, Jesus came… from heaven high, on a cross for you and me to die. The second verse affirms who He is: He is God and God's Son—fully divine, the eternal Son, one with the Father and the Holy Spirit. And His sacrifice forever will stand, meeting sin's every demand. Jesus is not one option among many. He is God who came to save.
Read Psalm 20:7–8. "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand firm." Chariots and horses were the military power of the ancient world. Today it might be money, connections, technology, or influence. All of them eventually fail. The Lord does not.
Read Psalm 9:9–10. "The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know Your name will trust in You, for You, O Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You." Trust grows as we come to know His name—His character, His faithfulness.
The third verse is honest about hard days. How many times have you looked at what you could choose and said, "I've got nothing to lose"? Many people feel that way in seasons of despair. But the song gently corrects it: you can lose something—you can lose your soul. Read Matthew 16:24–27. Jesus said, "Whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?" The stakes are eternal.
And then the good news: Choosing Jesus means you cannot even lose your soul. Those who trust Him are held securely. He paid sin's awful toll.
The bridge speaks plainly about death and judgment. Read Hebrews 9:27–28. "It is appointed for man to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many; and He will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to bring salvation to those who are eagerly waiting for Him." Life is short—one minute we're here, then we're gone. But eternity has no end. That is why trusting Jesus cannot be postponed.
Read 2 Corinthians 6:1–2. "Now is the favorable time; now is the day of salvation." The chorus echoes it: Trust in Jesus—the day of salvation is today. Trust in Jesus without delay.
If you have been trusting in something else, ask yourself whether it will hold when everything else falls. And if you have already trusted Jesus, keep trusting Him—on the toughest days most of all.
A moment to respond: Make two lists: "Things I'm tempted to trust" and "Reasons to trust Jesus." Read Psalm 20:7 and pray it over your first list, surrendering each item to God. If you have never placed your trust in Jesus, do it today—without delay.
Let's pray: Lord Jesus, You are God and God's Son, and Your sacrifice meets every demand of sin. Forgive us for trusting in chariots and horses—in things that will fail. We trust in Your name. For anyone who feels they have nothing to lose, show them how precious their soul is to You. Today is the day of salvation. Help us trust You without delay. Amen.
Our desire at UnrelentingJesus is that you would place your full trust in Jesus—today, and every day—because He will never fail those who seek Him.
