Lyrics
More Than Enough
Read together: Zechariah 13:1; Psalm 36:7–9; 2 Corinthians 9:8; Ephesians 2:4–7; Ephesians 3:20–21
How far can grace reach? This song opens with that question: Many times I've wondered how far can it flow—that grace and mercy of God that I know? Most of us have wondered something similar, especially on days when our sin feels too big or our needs feel too deep.
The song answers with an image: a fountain. Not a cup that runs out or a well that needs to be refilled, but a fountain filled with a precious flow that never runs dry.
Read Zechariah 13:1. The prophet foretold a day when "a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity." Christians have long seen that promise fulfilled in Jesus, whose death opened a fountain of cleansing for all who come to Him. The old hymn "There Is a Fountain" drew from this same image—and so does this song.
Read Psalm 36:7–9. "How precious is Your loving devotion, O God! … They feast on the abundance of Your house, and You give them drink from Your river of delights. For with You is the fountain of life." God is not stingy. His love is a river, His life a fountain.
The second verse names when we most need that truth: when roads are rocky and times are tough. It is easy to believe God is more than enough when life is easy. It is harder when the bills are overdue, the diagnosis is grim, or the relationship is falling apart. Read 2 Corinthians 9:8. Paul writes, "God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." That does not promise that we will have everything we want. It promises that God's grace will be sufficient for everything He calls us to do and endure.
The third verse looks ahead. Abundant blessings He's given to me, but many more when I reach heaven. The song imagines finally seeing all the times He was watching and protecting me. Read Ephesians 2:4–7. God made us alive with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms "in order that in the coming ages He might show the surpassing riches of His grace, demonstrated by His kindness to us in Christ Jesus." Eternity will be spent discovering how much grace God has shown us. We have only begun to taste it.
The bridge brings it to the cross: He paid my price—oh, that spotless Lamb. He paid it for you, He paid it for me. That is where the fountain was opened. And the song extends the invitation: Accept right now His gift that is free, and you'll be there for all eternity.
Read Ephesians 3:20–21. God "is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us." More than enough is not an exaggeration. It is an understatement.
If you feel like you are running on empty, come to the fountain. If you think your sin is too much, the fountain was opened for exactly that. And if you have never tasted God's grace, it is free.
A moment to respond: Read Ephesians 3:20–21. Write down one area where you feel you do not have enough—strength, patience, money, hope. Bring it to God in prayer and ask Him to show you His sufficiency there. Then write down three ways His grace has already been more than enough for you, and thank Him.
Let's pray: Lord, Your grace and mercy flow like a fountain that never runs dry. Thank You that Jesus paid it all on Calvary and opened a fountain to cleanse us from sin. When roads are rocky, be more than enough for us. Let us see more of Your kindness each day, and one day forever. For anyone thirsty, invite them to come and drink freely. Amen.
Our desire at UnrelentingJesus is that you would discover that Jesus is more than enough—today, through every hard road, and for all eternity.
