Lyrics

[Verse 1] In the stillness and the quiet Of my most every night I listen for Your voice to speak I long for us to meet In every offering of prayer Oh I hope you will be there [Verse 2] I’m still very much unsure How your love so pure Reached all the way down Finding me lost—but now found I can’t begin to understand Why you’d pay for me sin’s demand This I would not ever know Lest Your promise and word told me so [Verse 3] So here I am—back at the foot of the cross Here I am again—trying to count all I know as loss For enduring the pain—meant for me What I surely did gain—is Salvation full and free. So why do I still carry cancelled sin and shame— How could I glory in anything—but the power of Jesus’s name? [Chorus] For in the name of Jesus—is full forgiveness of sin Ohh in the name of Jesus—all may come—all are invited in. Full of grace, mercy, hope and love They all flow down from Jesus in Heaven above No greater gift has man or woman ever known Than what Jesus on the cross did all alone When He cancelled my debt and all its cost Dying in my place—on Calvary’s cross. [Bridge] Have you ever wondered if we live—then it all just comes to an end? Have you ever wondered—about your dilemma with all your sin? Well my friend—thanks to Jesus—you don’t have to give it another thought— By His mercy and grace—you can be forgiven and blood bought! [Final Chorus] For in the name of Jesus—is full forgiveness of sin Ohh in the name of Jesus—all may come—all are invited in. Full of grace, mercy, hope and love They all flow down from Jesus in Heaven above No greater gift has man or woman ever known Than what Jesus on the cross did all alone When He cancelled my debt and all its cost Dying in my place—on Calvary’s cross. [Tag] Oh I will glory forever in the power of Jesus’s cross I will count it all joy—for Him to gain—and the world as my loss For in Jesus there is forever forgiveness of sin paid at the highest cost So I will forever glory—in the power of Jesus’s cross Ohhhh—I will forever glory—in the power—of Jesus’s cross!

In the Name of Jesus

Read together: Colossians 2:13–14; Romans 8:1; Psalm 103:10–12; Acts 4:10–12; Philippians 2:8–11; Romans 10:9–13

Do you ever lie awake and wonder whether God is really listening? Or kneel at the foot of the Cross for the hundredth time, still carrying a sin you confessed long ago? Many believers know they are forgiven, yet live as though the debt is still on the books.

Read Colossians 2:13–14. Paul says that when we were dead in our sins, God made us alive with Christ and forgave us all our trespasses. He cancelled the record of debt that stood against us, setting it aside by nailing it to the Cross. Not reduced. Not postponed. Cancelled. The record of everything we owed was nailed up where Jesus hung, and He paid it in full.

That is why carrying cancelled guilt is not humility; it is forgetting what God has done. Read Romans 8:1 and Psalm 103:10–12. There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. God does not deal with us according to our sins; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. When old shame comes back, the answer is not to pay for it again but to remember Who already did.

All of this comes to us through one name. Read Acts 4:10–12. Standing before the very council that had condemned Jesus, Peter declared that salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. Read Philippians 2:8–11. Because Jesus humbled Himself to death on a cross, God exalted Him and gave Him the name above every name. Forgiveness is not found in a religion, a ritual, or our own effort. It is found in Jesus.

And that name is offered to everyone. Read Romans 10:9–13. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. This song’s invitation is the Bible’s invitation: all may come, all are invited in. If you have wondered whether life simply ends, or what to do with the weight of your sin, Jesus answers both. He rose from the dead, and He forgives everyone who comes to Him.

A moment to respond: Read Colossians 2:13–14 this week. If there is a sin you have already confessed but still carry, write it down, then write across it “Cancelled—nailed to the Cross,” and thank Jesus that the debt is paid. If you have never trusted Him, call on His name today. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Let's pray: Lord Jesus, thank You that in Your name there is full forgiveness of sin. Thank You for cancelling the debt we could never pay and nailing it to the Cross. Forgive us for carrying shame You have already taken away. Teach us to glory in nothing but You. And for everyone still wondering whether there is hope, let them hear that all may come—and let them come to You today. Amen.

Our desire at UnrelentingJesus is that you would lay down every cancelled sin and live in the freedom of the name above every name—Jesus.
