Lyrics

[Verse 1] I’m gonna tell you a story, not only true—but testimony—true To some—short and dull—and maybe—nothing new to you. But salvation’s road is sometimes different for everyone— But salvation for anyone—isn’t about what you’ve done—or the road you’ve been on— It’s about the road you’re on now— all because of what God has done [Chorus] Just like you—and anyone—I was lost in my sin, but now I’m found I was headed straight to hell, but now my friend—I’m heaven bound All because—Jesus paid it all—there was nothing left for me to pay— Cause He bled and died for me and all—ohhhh—Heaven’s gonna be our home—one glad—day! [Verse 2] We couldn’t go to Him, so He willingly came to where we are— Laid His glory down—outta love—bore the weight of our every sin—no matter what we done—no matter if we ran from Him —so far. Then all I did was accept Him—just as He is—a Savior and friend— And He accepted me—just as I am—oh how I wish I had turned sooner— But oh how glad I am—all my running—has come to an end! [Chorus] Just like you—and anyone—I was lost in my sin, but now I’m found I was headed straight to hell, but now my friend—I’m heaven bound All because—Jesus paid it all—there was nothing left for me to pay— Cause He bled and died for me and all—ohhhh—Heaven’s gonna be our home—one glad—day! [Verse 3] God is due all the glory, every honor, for every part My journey has been a testament to the blindness of this man’s heart. I should’ve answered the first time He came knocking at my heart’s door. But disobedience and sin—has a way—Of keeping us longer—than we meant to stay— Of taking us further—than we ever planned to be away— And ohhhh—costing us more—than we ever wanted to pay! [Bridge] So my prayer for all is simply about— Answer Jesus when He knocks— He will take away every fear and doubt. And there’s no guarantee—when He knocks again—you’ll be around anymore— To answer His call—at your heart’s door. So don’t waste any time left on the clock— If it was me—I wouldn’t even wait for Him to knock— Living and dying by the choices that we make Means some choices can’t wait—run to Jesus now—for heaven’s sake Today can be your day of salvation, Do not delay— Ohhhhh—come to Jesus—today! [Tag] Ohhhh—your testimony might not be just like mine—and you’ll have one of your own to tell— Saved from being lost in your sin… best of all missing Hell— Cause when we were lost—now we are found— Oh Praise the Lord — we are heaven bound!

Heaven Bound

Have you ever taken a wrong turn and kept driving because you didn't want to admit you were lost? Every mile made the return trip longer. The road looked familiar enough to keep going, but deep down you knew you were headed the wrong way.

Life can feel like that. We tell ourselves we'll deal with God later—after things settle down, after we've improved ourselves, after we've enjoyed a little more freedom. Sometimes we know exactly where our choices are taking us, yet we keep moving.

Jesus told a story about a son who demanded his inheritance, left home, and wasted what he had (Luke 15:11–32). Eventually he found himself hungry, humiliated, and far from the life he imagined. Scripture says, “And when he came to himself” (Luke 15:17, KJV), he began thinking about his father's house.

Can you imagine that walk home? He had prepared a speech. He knew he had no right to demand his old place. But while he was still far away, his father saw him, ran to him, and embraced him.

That picture shows the welcome extended to a repentant sinner. It does not mean our rebellion is harmless. The son had truly wasted his inheritance. Yet the father's mercy was greater than the son's ability to make himself worthy.

Perhaps you have a testimony that began in a dramatic moment. Perhaps your story is quieter: you heard the Gospel, understood your need, and trusted Christ. The roads may look different, but the Savior is the same. We are not saved by having an impressive story. We are saved by Jesus, who died for our sins and rose again (1 Corinthians 15:3–4).

Here's something to read: Luke 15:11–32, followed by Romans 5:6–11. Notice who takes the initiative in showing mercy. Then consider whether you are still trying to earn a welcome that God offers through His Son.

Would you be willing to stop running? You don't need to rehearse a speech that makes your past sound better. Confess your sin, turn toward Christ, and trust His finished work. And if you already belong to Him, remember where your hope rests when life grows hard: not in your flawless record, but in His faithful promise.

Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank You for receiving repentant sinners through Jesus. For the one who has wandered far, give courage to turn home. For the believer who has forgotten the joy of salvation, renew gratitude and assurance. Keep our eyes on Christ until faith becomes sight. Amen.

Our desire at UnrelentingJesus is that you discover what it truly means to be heaven bound—through Jesus alone. We will be praying for you.
