Lyrics
Enter His Presence
Read together: Hebrews 10:19–22; Hebrews 4:14–16; Exodus 3:13–15; Genesis 22:13–14; Exodus 15:26; Judges 6:23–24; Romans 8:15; John 6:37; Matthew 11:28
For most of the Old Testament, entering God’s presence was terrifying. Only the high priest could go behind the curtain into the Most Holy Place, only once a year, and never without blood. The message was clear: God is holy, and sinners cannot simply walk in.
Read Hebrews 10:19–22. Everything changed at the cross. Because of the blood of Jesus, we now have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain—His body. So we draw near with a sincere heart. Read Hebrews 4:14–16. Our great High Priest is not distant or unsympathetic; He was tempted in every way, yet without sin. Therefore we approach the throne of grace with confidence, to receive mercy and find grace to help in our time of need.
And the One we meet there has made Himself known by name. Read Exodus 3:13–15. To Moses He said, “I AM WHO I AM”—Yahweh, the eternal, self-existent God. Read Genesis 22:13–14. On the mountain where Abraham offered Isaac, God provided a ram, and Abraham named the place “The LORD Will Provide”—Jehovah Jireh. Read Exodus 15:26 and Judges 6:23–24. He told Israel, “I am the LORD, who heals you”—Jehovah Rapha. When Gideon feared for his life, God said, “Peace! Do not be afraid,” and Gideon built an altar called “The LORD Is Peace”—Jehovah Shalom.
Read Romans 8:15. In Christ, the God of all those names lets us call Him something even closer: Abba, Father. The Almighty is not only above us; through Jesus He welcomes us as His children.
Read John 6:37 and Matthew 11:28. Jesus says, “Whoever comes to Me I will never drive away,” and “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” There is nothing to bring and nothing to earn. This song’s invitation is the gospel’s invitation: come into His presence right now, just as you are.
A moment to respond: Read Hebrews 4:14–16 this week, then pray through the names of God in this devotional. Bring Him one real need under each name—provision to Jehovah Jireh, healing to Jehovah Rapha, peace to Jehovah Shalom. If you have never come to Jesus, come today just as you are; He has promised never to turn you away.
Let's pray: Father, thank You that through the blood of Jesus the way into Your presence is open. You are Yahweh, eternal and unchanging; our Provider, our Healer, our Peace, and our Abba. We come with nothing in our hands but our need. Meet us here, draw us near, and teach us to live every day in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Our desire at UnrelentingJesus is that you would enter the presence of Jesus today—just as you are—and find that the God of Heaven and Earth loves you so.
