About the Music
Every song on UnrelentingJesus begins with something I want to communicate about Jesus Christ, His Word, His grace and the Gospel.
In many ways, that is how this entire journey began.
These songs are often born from personal experiences—things God has brought me through, taught me, reminded me of, or placed heavily on my heart. Others begin directly in Scripture: a passage, a promise, a person, a moment in the life of Jesus, or a truth in God's Word that I simply cannot get away from.
Sometimes those two things meet in the same song.
The words come first.
I personally write the lyrics for these songs and develop their creative direction—including the musical style, instrumentation, tempo, arrangement, vocal characteristics and overall presentation. I may work through numerous versions and changes before a song says and sounds the way I believe it should.
Artificial-intelligence music technology is then used as a creative and production tool to help bring that vision to life.
The vocal performances you hear are AI-generated voices. They are not presented as my singing voice or as performances by human vocalists unless specifically identified otherwise.
I have tremendous respect for singers, musicians, songwriters, producers and others who have spent years developing their craft through traditional music. The technology used here is not intended to diminish that artistry or suggest that these recordings were created in the same way.
It has simply provided me with a way to take words that might otherwise have remained on a page and give them music.
For me, the heart of these songs has never been the technology. It is the message.
A testimony can become a song. A passage of Scripture can become a song. A difficult season can become a song. A reminder of God's faithfulness can become a song. And sometimes a song can say something about Jesus that I have been trying to find the words to say for years.
My purpose in using the tools available today is to communicate the Gospel, encourage believers, point people to Scripture, share what God has done in my own life and, above everything else, exalt Jesus Christ.
If one of these songs causes someone to open their Bible, remember God's faithfulness, find encouragement in a difficult place, share the Gospel, or simply stop for a few minutes and think about Jesus, then it has accomplished what I hoped it would accomplish.
The words come first.
The message matters most.
And Jesus is the reason for every one of them.
