Jesus Knows My Day
Does this sound familiar? The alarm goes off before you feel rested. There's a message waiting, a bill to pay, a place to be, and somebody who needs something from you. Before your feet reach the floor, the day already feels spoken for. Sometimes the pressure isn't one enormous crisis. It's a hundred ordinary demands arriving without much space between them.
You may love the Lord and still feel worn down by routine. Faith doesn't make traffic disappear or turn every difficult conversation into an easy one. But Scripture invites us to recognize that Jesus is present in the ordinary hours, not only the dramatic ones. Read Mark 1:29–39. After a demanding evening of healing and serving crowds, Jesus rose early and went to a solitary place to pray. When others came looking for Him, He continued in the purpose the Father had given Him.
Notice that Jesus did not allow every demand to define His direction. He cared for people deeply, yet He lived in communion with the Father and acted with purpose. That can challenge those of us who measure a good day by how many requests we manage to satisfy. Being needed by everyone is not the same thing as being faithful to God.
Now read Colossians 3:17. Paul tells believers to do whatever they do in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. That includes work that doesn't feel particularly spiritual: preparing meals, answering messages, caring for a relative, keeping a promise, or completing a task nobody will notice. The Lord sees the ordinary faithfulness that others may overlook.
Perhaps today you need permission to begin differently. Before checking every notification, would you be willing to take a minute and pray? Ask Jesus to order your priorities. Name the conversation you're dreading. Ask Him for patience with the person who tries it, wisdom about the decision you cannot avoid, and grace to do your work honestly. Then take the next step in front of you.
There may also be something you need to set down. A commitment that isn't yours to carry. An expectation that has become impossible. A habit of filling every quiet moment with noise. Jesus told His disciples, “Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while” (Mark 6:31, KJV). Rest is not a reward reserved for people who have finished everything.
Our desire at UnrelentingJesus is that you find the Lord in the middle of your actual day, not only in the few moments that look peaceful from the outside. We will be praying for those who are working, caregiving, traveling, waiting, and doing their best to remain faithful.
Let's pray. Father, You know what awaits us today. Give us wisdom to distinguish what matters from what merely shouts the loudest. Make us patient, truthful, and kind. Help us work faithfully, rest appropriately, and remember that our worth is found in Christ, not in a completed list. In His name, amen.
