Lyrics
I’ve Seen Enough
Have you ever prayed for something so long that you started wondering whether your words were reaching heaven? Maybe you prayed over a marriage, a child, a diagnosis, or a decision that seemed to grow more complicated every day. You've watched other people celebrate answers while your own question remained unanswered. If that sounds familiar, you're not the first believer to know that kind of silence.
In 1 Kings 18, Elijah witnessed fire fall from heaven in answer to prayer. Yet just one chapter later, the same prophet was exhausted, afraid, and asking God to let him die. Read 1 Kings 19:1–18. Notice what the Lord did first. He didn't begin by scolding Elijah for being tired. He allowed him to sleep, provided food and water, and led him toward a renewed understanding of His presence and purpose.
There is something deeply comforting about that sequence. God knows we are more than the words we manage to say in prayer. He knows when our bodies are worn out, when our minds are overwhelmed, and when yesterday's courage seems impossible to recover. Elijah's fear was real, but it wasn't the whole story. God's work continued beyond what Elijah could see.
Maybe you have seen enough disappointment to be cautious about hope. You don't want somebody to offer a slogan and pretend your circumstances are simple. Scripture doesn't ask you to do that. Psalm 13 begins with David asking, “How long?” Four times he brings his distress before the Lord. The Bible makes room for that question. Faith is not always a confident declaration; sometimes it is choosing to speak to God when you are struggling to understand Him.
Would you be willing to bring Him the honest version of your prayer today? Not the polished one. Not the one you think a strong Christian ought to say. Tell Him what has frightened you, what has disappointed you, and what you are afraid to hope for again. Then read Psalm 13 and 1 Kings 19. Let those passages remind you that the Lord is neither surprised by your exhaustion nor absent from your waiting.
Please don't mistake an unanswered request for evidence that Jesus has turned away. We cannot promise that every circumstance will change in the way we ask. We can point you to the Savior who entered suffering Himself, who hears His people, and who remains faithful even when the road ahead is unclear. If you need practical help or the support of trusted believers, reaching out is not a failure of faith.
Our desire at UnrelentingJesus is to encourage you to keep coming to the Lord, even when your prayers feel worn thin. We will be praying for renewed strength, wise companions, and the peace of Christ in your waiting.
Let's pray. Lord, You know every prayer that seems unanswered and every heart that has grown tired of waiting. Meet us with Your mercy. Give us courage to speak honestly, wisdom to receive help, and strength for the next faithful step. Hold us close to Jesus when we cannot see what You are doing. Amen.
