Lyrics

**Verse 1** Wouldn’t we all want to know—when promises are real and true? Wouldn’t we live differently with promises kept to me and you? If you knew today— Who was gonna leave and who was gonna stay? Through life—it would be easier to get along— Knowing all the right things—never worrying about what could go wrong. **Pre-Chorus** God kept a promise—when He wrapped it in flesh and bone, The promise He kept—was a humble King who left His heavenly throne. His promise walked among the broken and the lost, Then His promise paid the price of every sinner’s cost. **Chorus** Jesus—the promise of all promises—came through— He did everything—He said He would do. Death—the grave—and the tomb—could not prevail, Jesus—the promise of all promises—and His mercy—will never fail. **Verse 2** In my life—when shadows and doubt creep through the door, Ohhh—His promises—I trust even more! And when I fall—His hand reaches down to lift me up— He restores my soul—as I drink from His cup! **Chorus** Jesus—the promise of all promises—came through— He did everything—He said He would do. Death—the grave—and the tomb—could not prevail, Jesus—the promise of all promises—and His mercy—will never fail. **Verse 3** When—when at last—these weary old bones grow still— The greatest promise of all—comes in the Father’s will, When Jesus comes—I’ll step out into eternity—crossing rivers of endless light And enter glory—Faith made perfect sight! **Final Chorus** Jesus promised the grave could not hold Him in— Promise made and kept—when Jesus died for my sin. Jesus kept every promise on both sides of the veil— Soon another promise made—He will keep—When He chains old Satan—behind the door to hell— **Tag** Jesus is the promise!! Jesus is—the promise keeper too! Jesus kept His promise—to save me and you! Forever and ever—His word and promises survive— He lives, He lives—and in Heaven—He is waiting—for His redeemed—to arrive!! **Worship Closing** Thank you Lord—for Your promises to me— Thank You Lord—for Your promise of eternity. Thank You Lord—for Your promise of one day—seeing You face to face— Lord—most of all—thank You for Your amazing grace!

He’s The Promise Of All Promises

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 1:20; Luke 2:10–11; Hebrews 10:23; Romans 8:32

A broken promise can alter the way a person hears every promise afterward. Someone said they would stay and left. Someone pledged help and never came. Perhaps you made promises yourself that you could not keep. After enough disappointments, even the word “promise” begins to sound fragile. We learn to protect ourselves by expecting less. We say we will believe it when we see it, because hoping again feels dangerous.

This song does not pretend that human beings can predict who will leave, what will go wrong, or how the next season will unfold. Instead, it points to a promise that did not remain words on a page. God's promise came into the world in the person of Jesus Christ. The Savior was born, walked among people carrying sickness and shame, suffered at the cross, and rose from the dead. The gospel is not a reassuring idea that God might someday do something loving. It is the announcement that God has acted decisively in His Son.

Paul writes that all God's promises find their “Yes” in Christ. That does not mean every desire we have will be granted or that every circumstance will improve on our schedule. It means that God's saving purpose is trustworthy because Jesus is trustworthy. We must be careful not to turn biblical promises into guarantees God never made. He has not promised that believers will never experience loss. He has promised that nothing can separate those who belong to Christ from His love. He has not promised a life without suffering. He has promised a risen Savior and a future beyond death.

Think about the people who waited for the Messiah. Generations lived and died without seeing the fulfillment they hoped for. When Jesus came, He did not arrive in the splendor many expected. He entered a world of ordinary households, political power, poverty, and pain. The promise was greater than their expectations, but its fulfillment required trust in God's way rather than their own timetable. That is still difficult for us. We want the answer before the waiting. We want the explanation before the tears. God gives us Christ as the surest evidence of His character.

If you are standing in the aftermath of someone else's broken word, do not force yourself to call that betrayal good. God sees what happened. Let Him teach you to distinguish between human unreliability and His faithfulness. And if you are ashamed of promises you failed to keep, confess that honestly and seek to make things right where you can. Your failures need not become the final word about your life. Jesus offers forgiveness and a new way to walk.

The promise of all promises is not that life will become predictable. It is that Jesus has come, has conquered the grave, and will not abandon those who trust Him. Hold on to that when lesser assurances fall away.

Prayer: Faithful Father, broken promises have made trust difficult for me. Help me see Your faithfulness in Jesus rather than measure You by human failures. Teach me to wait with hope and to keep my own word with integrity. Amen.
