Lyrics
Grace Stepped In
Have you ever looked at the world around you and wondered whether anything could make it right? The cruelty, the dishonesty, the broken families—and then the uncomfortable realization that the problem isn't only out there. We have our own hearts to answer for.
Abraham once stood before the Lord and pleaded for the city of Sodom. Genesis 18:22–33 records his questions: Would the Lord spare the place if righteous people were found there? Abraham's concern shows us both the seriousness of judgment and the mercy of a God who hears a plea.
But the Bible also turns that question toward every one of us. Romans 3:10 says, “There is none righteous, no, not one.” If our hope depended on finding one naturally sinless person among us, we would have no hope at all.
Here is where the Gospel becomes astonishing. God did not lower His standard or pretend evil was good. He sent His Son. Jesus alone lived without sin, and 1 Peter 3:18 tells us that Christ suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, to bring us to God.
Can you imagine standing before a holy God with nothing to offer but your guilt—and discovering that Jesus has done what you could never do?
Read Romans 3:21–26 slowly. Notice that God's righteousness is revealed through faith in Jesus Christ, and that redemption comes through Him. This is not a story about people finally becoming good enough to save themselves. It is about a righteous Savior giving Himself for sinners.
Maybe you are tempted to despair over the condition of the world. Maybe you are angry at what others have done. Or perhaps you're exhausted from trying to prove you are better than the next person. Scripture invites us away from both pride and hopelessness and toward the cross.
Would you be willing to begin with your own heart? Confess the sins you know rather than cataloging everyone else's. Trust Christ alone for salvation. Then ask Him to make you a faithful witness—someone who tells the truth, practices mercy, and speaks the Gospel with love.
Let's pray. Holy God, we confess that we need Your mercy. Thank You for sending Jesus, the righteous One, to bring the unrighteous to You. Save those who have not yet trusted Him. Change our hearts, keep us humble, and make us courageous in sharing the good news. In Jesus' name, amen.
Our desire at UnrelentingJesus is that even one person reading this today would turn to Christ. If that person is you, we are praying for you.
