Lyrics
**Verse 1**
Crowded round Granny’s old pine table,
“Pass the biscuits, where’s the corn?”
Ready to eat, soon we’d hear another fishin fable…
All were gathered, cousins, Aunts and Uncles…
Calloused hands would take the hands of even the newest one,
We’d take our day, our night and the food before the throne.
“Children, bow your heads and pray.”
“We’re gonna thank Jesus for this food and for livin another day. “
Thank Him for mercy and the bread,
Heaven felt a little closer, when we said Grace—before we were fed.
With an A-men—Silence broke!
Clanking dishes and forks, laughter and smiles on every face.
Hard times and war, names of the dead read on TV from that day…
It was all a little easier, when at the table…Jesus was in His place.
**Chorus**
Lord, at the table, we used to say Grace.
We’d invite You in….every meal You took Your place.
We took time to remember every good thing comes from You.
We took time to say thanks for Your love….and provision too.
Sayin Grace at the table….
It made each day more stable.
Our wandering hearts, were brought home again,
We tasted more than the food You gave us from our labor on Your land,
We tasted a little of You, and felt the touch of Your hand.
Fed by Your love and mercy, we all sat face to face,
And it was all when we used to say Grace….it all happened when we gathered at the table and said….Grace.
**Verse 2**
Today, we eat in our cars, all in a big hurry,
Our hearts are full of pain, our minds overrun with worry.
We never see family, our neighbors we don’t even know,
Time flies….Jesus understands…..He knows we’re just always on the Go!
Our words are sharp, they come from a hardened heart,
No time for grace….
No soft place for grace to even get a start.
Up and down the roads we go, sirens are blarin,
There’s no time for carin….
And the One who helped us grow, the one who used to join us at the table by grace,
It’s been so long, if He came today, we wouldn’t even know His face.
**Chorus**
Lord, at the table, we used to say Grace.
We’d invite You in for every meal….You always came and took Your place.
Fed by Your love and mercy, we all sat face to face,
And it was all when we used to say Grace….it all happened when we gathered at the table and said—Grace.
**Bridge**
So let’s clear a little space,
Ask Jesus to come for dinner,
Make for Him a special place.
Gather at home again, come as you are, a broken heart and just a sinner,
Say Grace, speak Grace, Give Grace to all those who come for dinner,
Ohhh, see what can happen when Jesus has His place,
See what He can do and what He does when you say Grace!
**Final chorus**
And when You gather, when You gather at your old pine table,
When with family or strangers you gather round, someone might even tell a fishin fable…
But first, lift up the name of Jesus, the risen one….
Take time to thank Him for all He’s done!!!!
And when at your old pine table, you choose to say Grace,
You’ll find…..Jesus will come every time and take His rightful place.
Ohhhh….invite friends and family…..invite neighbors too…..choose to say Grace, and never falter.
And you might just find….that old table ain’t just for eatin……that old pine table makes a very fine altar.
Come! Come every one and all before Jesus!
Find peace, mercy, love and grace at the Master’s table, He’ll sit down and dine with you!
Lift up the name of Jesus again, tell Him all about your troubles, give Him all your praise too!
Sit with Jesus at your table, look into His loving face….Sit down at your table….
And find Grace.

Grace At The Table
Can you still hear the voices around a table from years ago? Someone asking for another biscuit. Someone telling the same old story. A chair scraping the floor. And then, for a moment, everybody growing quiet while someone bowed a head and thanked the Lord.
Maybe that memory is sweet. Maybe it hurts because some of those chairs are empty now. Or perhaps you never had a table where you felt safe and welcomed.
There is a scene in Luke 24:13–35 worth reading today. Two discouraged followers were walking away from Jerusalem after Jesus had been crucified. They had hoped He was the One who would redeem Israel, but their hopes seemed buried. A stranger joined them on the road, listened, and explained the Scriptures. Only later, when He sat with them and broke bread, did they recognize that the stranger was the risen Jesus.
Imagine that moment: their ordinary table becoming a place of extraordinary recognition. They had not been abandoned. The Savior was alive and had walked beside them even while they failed to recognize Him.
Have our lives become so hurried that we scarcely stop long enough to give thanks? Food eaten in a car, phones glowing at dinner, everyone in the same house but somehow far apart. We can long for yesterday's family traditions without recognizing that gratitude and hospitality are choices we can make today.
Read Luke 24:28–32. Then consider James 1:17, which reminds us that every good and perfect gift comes from above. Saying grace is not a magical formula that makes a family happy. It is a small, honest acknowledgment that our lives depend on God's goodness.
Would you be willing to reclaim one unhurried meal this week? Put the phone aside. Invite someone who may be lonely. Ask each person what they are thankful for. If your family is fractured, begin with a prayer for reconciliation rather than a demand that everything instantly return to the way it was.
And if you're eating alone tonight, you can still thank the Lord. An empty chair does not mean an unheard prayer.
Let's pray. Lord Jesus, forgive our hurry and our forgetfulness. Thank You for daily bread, for people who have loved us, and for the memories we treasure. Comfort those who grieve an empty place. Teach us to make room for others, to speak gently, and to welcome Your truth into ordinary moments. Amen.
Our desire at UnrelentingJesus is that the grace you remember will become grace you share. We will be praying for your home and the people around your table.
