Lyrics
Forever I Will Stand And Proclaim
Read together: John 10:27–30; 1 Peter 1:18–21; Ephesians 1:4–7; Psalm 107:1–2; Acts 4:18–20
Have you ever wished you had a voice loud enough to reach the whole world? Not to promote yourself, but to tell everyone what Jesus has done for you? That is the longing at the beginning of this song: Oh, that I could stand and reach far enough with my voice and tell how of me You made Your choice.
The song is full of wonder. The singer is amazed—again and again—that Jesus would choose, love, and die for someone so unworthy. How could anyone so spotless and clean die for me and everyone so condemned and unclean?
That wonder is fitting. Read Ephesians 1:4–7. Paul writes that God chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless in His sight, and that in love He predestined us for adoption through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of His will. In Him we have redemption through His blood. Our salvation did not begin with our decision. It began in the heart of God before time began. That is reason enough to stand amazed.
The chorus centers on the blood of Christ. Oh, the blood—how precious was Your blood. Read 1 Peter 1:18–21. Peter reminds believers that they were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or spot. The value of our redemption is measured by the price paid for it. No amount of money could purchase what His blood secured.
The first verse also speaks of being held so securely in God's hand. Read John 10:27–30. Jesus says His sheep hear His voice, He knows them, and they follow Him. He gives them eternal life, and they will never perish; no one will snatch them out of His hand. Then He adds that no one can snatch them out of the Father's hand either. For the believer, security does not rest on the strength of our grip on God, but on the strength of His grip on us.
The third verse reminds us that this wonder is not only for the good days. Even in sorrow and pain, You always draw so near—comforting, caring, and giving victory even in my grief. Being held by God does not mean we will never grieve. It means we never grieve alone.
So what do we do with that kind of grace? We tell it. Read Psalm 107:1–2. "Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His loving devotion endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so." And in Acts 4:18–20, when Peter and John were commanded to stop speaking about Jesus, they answered, "We cannot help but speak about what we have seen and heard." Proclaiming Christ is not a task for professionals. It is the natural overflow of a heart amazed by grace.
You may not have a stage or a microphone. But you have a voice. You have a neighbor, a coworker, a family member. Your story of what Jesus has done is worth telling.
And if you have never been amazed by His grace because you have never received it, that can change today. The precious blood of Christ was shed for sinners. Come to Him, and He will hold you in His hand.
A moment to respond: Read 1 Peter 1:18–21 slowly. Then write a three-sentence summary of what Jesus has done for you. This week, look for one opportunity to share it—out loud, in a text, or in a letter. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.
Let's pray: Lord Jesus, we stand amazed that You would choose us, love us, and die for us. Thank You for Your precious blood and for holding us securely in Your hand. Comfort us in sorrow and stay near in our grief. Give us voices that will not stay silent, so that many will hear and trust You as Savior and Lord. Amen.
Our desire at UnrelentingJesus is that you would never lose your wonder at what Jesus has done—and that your amazement would become a testimony others can hear.
