Lyrics

[Verse 1] Come now—oh come now and give thanks with me— Give thanks to our God— And come pray with me— That by our faith in His Son— That He—oh that He— will continue to add hope—hope on top of hope— That we have laid up in the only One— The only Holy One—who is full of love— And Who rains down on us—His love— Oh let it rain down—from Heaven above. [Chorus] Come now—oh come now— All—all who have heard and received the gospel— Come now—and speak Grace— Ohhhhh—speak Grace— To every tribe, tongue and every race— And on each and every day— Hope for the salvation—of all—by choosing the narrow way— This oh Lord—we continually pray. [Verse 2] And as we pray—let all pray— Pray for wisdom and knowledge of God’s will— Then for understanding—so we can fill— Every step—we take—full of His might, Guided by knowledge, light and power Finding patience, long suffering and joy— Even in our darkest hour. [Chorus] Soooo—come now—oh come now— All—all who have heard and received the gospel— Come now—and speak Grace— Ohhhhh—speak Grace— To every tribe, tongue and race— And on each and every day— Hope for the salvation—of all—by choosing the narrow way— This oh Lord—we continually pray. [Bridge] Oh Lord—for us—You have made an inheritance— Out of Your abundance— And nothing in our inheritance—is greater than Your Son and His love— in whom we have redemption through His blood, forgiveness of our sins—by a spotless sacrifice—from God above. [Verse 3] And for Him all things were created—Ohhh—He is forever to be celebrated— In heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, no one can match His worth— Neither in dominions—or in principalities or power from an earthly throne— Ohhh—we worship Jesus— And Him alone! [Tag] All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, all of them—and in Him all things consist— Oh how His faithfulness to us does persist— And He is the head of the body, The head of the church, and it’s governance— He is the beginning, and the end— the firstborn from the dead, And in all things He will forever reign—In His holy—preeminence. Ahhh-men!!

Come Now Find Hope On Top Of Hope

Read together: Colossians 1:3–23; Romans 15:13; Matthew 7:13–14; Revelation 7:9–10

Have you ever read a passage of Scripture and wished you could sing it? This song does exactly that. Much of it flows straight from the opening chapter of Paul's letter to the Colossians, and it invites us to give thanks, to pray, and to find hope stacked on top of hope.

Read Colossians 1:3–8. Paul thanks God for the believers in Colossae because of their faith in Christ and their love for all the saints—"because of the hope laid up for you in heaven." Their hope was not wishful thinking about circumstances. It was a secure inheritance, stored up with God, guaranteed by Christ. That is the foundation the song builds on: hope that we have laid up in the only One.

Now read Colossians 1:9–14. Paul tells them what he prays for them: that they would be filled with the knowledge of God's will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so they could walk worthy of the Lord, bearing fruit and being strengthened with all power for all endurance and patience with joy. The song's second verse prays the same: patience, long-suffering, and joy—even in our darkest hour. Notice that Paul does not pray for the darkness to be removed. He prays for strength to endure it with joy. That is a different kind of hope.

Then Paul gives thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints, rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us into the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. The song's bridge echoes this: nothing in our inheritance is greater than Your Son and His love.

Read Colossians 1:15–20. This is one of the most majestic descriptions of Jesus in all of Scripture. He is the image of the invisible God. All things were created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is the head of the body, the church. He is the firstborn from the dead, so that in everything He might have preeminence. The song's tag sings these lines back almost word for word. When you feel that your life is coming apart, remember: the One who holds all things together is holding you.

The chorus turns hope outward. All who have heard and received the gospel—come now and speak grace to every tribe, tongue, and race. Revelation 7:9–10 pictures a great multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language worshiping the Lamb. That vision fuels the church's mission. And Jesus' words about the narrow way in Matthew 7:13–14 remind us why it matters: the way to life is through Him alone, and many have not yet found it.

Perhaps you feel your hope is running thin. Romans 15:13 is a prayer for you: may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Hope on top of hope is not something you manufacture. It is something God pours in.

A moment to respond: Read Colossians 1:9–14 and pray it for yourself, inserting your own name. Then pray it again for someone else—a friend, a missionary, or someone who has not yet heard the gospel. Ask God how you can speak grace to someone different from you this week.

Let's pray: Father, thank You for the hope laid up for us in Christ. Fill us with the knowledge of Your will, strengthen us for endurance and patience with joy, and keep us grateful for our inheritance in Your Son. Jesus, You are before all things, and in You all things hold together. Send Your grace to every tribe and tongue. Amen.

Our desire at UnrelentingJesus is that the hope you have in Jesus would keep growing, layer upon layer, until it overflows to everyone around you.
