Lyrics
*Verse 1*
My heart leaned in to You, You were my Son, Now, You are my Lord,
I held You close, the Child all Heaven adored.
You were mine to cradle, but the cost was steep and deep,
For no mother should bear the day her son, she can no longer keep.
*Pre-Chorus*
To be a Mother, there is no higher call,
And then, to be the Mother of the Holy One, the Lord of all…
You favored me with favor I didn’t deserve,
To raise the King that all the nations will serve.
*Chorus*
Lord, like every mother who parts with her child,
Keep Your Spirit burning within me.
Hear me now, oh Lord, hear your Mother’s plea —
Show me how to nurture the spirit in me of the Holy One,
Show me how to keep the spirit of the Father’s Son.
*Verse 2*
Blessed among women, by grace I was found,
Your Spirit moved — new life leapt at the sound.
I saw Your hands heal, I heard Your truth speak,
The fruit of my womb, you made the weak strong, and the strong ones weak.
But when nails pierced your flesh, Your Mother felt them too, and as I stood at the cross,
My tears mixed with anger and fear, and even though I gained grace and mercy, my gain felt more like a Mother’s loss.
*Chorus*
Lord, like every mother who parts with her child,
Keep Your Spirit burning within me.
Hear me now, oh Lord, hear your Mother’s plea —
Show me how to nurture the Holy One,
Show me how to keep the spirit of the Father’s Son.
*Bridge*
Oh the pain, oh the grace, oh the questions that flooded my mind,
To know my loss would soon serve all mankind!
Did I know, when I held You in my arms,
It was for love, you answered Your Father’s call, to love one and all, that you would save the world from all sins harms?
*Verse 3*
Now oh Lord, hear this, my voice, Thank You Lord, for every mother who believes,
For every woman who worships, and especially a Mother who prays…oh thank You Lord for a mother who prays on her knees.
Thank You for choosing a servant so unassuming and small, a Mother
That would carry Salvation, the Redeemer of all.
*Extended Chorus*
Oh my Jesus, oh my Savior, God’s only Son,
You died for me, as if I were the only one.
You are the perfect Lamb, the spotless plan —
Thank You for Your Mother, when You came as a Man.
Thank You for making me, a part of Your plan!
Thank You for Your Mother, when You came as a Man.

A Mother’s Plea
Read together: John 19:25–27; Luke 2:25–35; Hebrews 4:14–16
Can you imagine a mother looking into the face of the child she once held in her arms, knowing she cannot reach Him, comfort Him, or make the pain stop?
Mary stood near the cross. There had been a day when she wrapped Jesus in swaddling clothes. Now she watched Him suffer in public, surrounded by people who did not understand whom they were crucifying. The words Simeon had spoken years earlier must have taken on terrible weight: a sword would pierce her own soul (Luke 2:35).
Have you ever stood beside someone you love and discovered that love, however deep, cannot take away what they are facing? Perhaps it was a hospital bed. Perhaps a goodbye you were not ready to say. Perhaps a child whose choices have taken them somewhere you cannot follow. There are moments when even a mother's love cannot fix what is broken.
Here's something I want you to read: John 19:25–27. While Jesus was suffering, He saw His mother. He entrusted her care to the disciple He loved. He did not overlook her sorrow. Yet the cross was doing something even greater than comforting Mary: Jesus was giving Himself for the sins of the world. Mary, like all of us, needed the Savior her Son had come to be.
Would you be willing to bring your own helplessness to Him today? You may not be able to change what someone else is going through. But you can tell Jesus the truth about your fear, your love, and your grief. Hebrews 4 invites us to approach His throne of grace for mercy and help in time of need. That invitation includes you.
A moment to respond: Read John 19:25–27 slowly. Name the person or loss on your heart. Ask Jesus for the grace to love faithfully without pretending you control the outcome.
Let's pray: Lord Jesus, You saw Your mother from the cross, and You see those of us who are hurting today. Give comfort where there is grief, wisdom where there is helplessness, and faith where fear has taken hold. Thank You that Your death was not defeat, but the sacrifice through which sinners may be reconciled to God. Draw us near to You. Amen.
Our desire at UnrelentingJesus is that you never mistake a hard season for being unseen by God. We care about the person behind every prayer, and we want to point you to the Savior who sees you.
